A Song About the Lord’s Vineyard – Isaiah 5 (Urgent Message)
February 14, 2026, Saturday
Sound the alarms for the Lord has spoken. The message He has been speaking about for months is a warning against His vineyard. His judgement and redemption is here. It’s time we cry out for mercy and repent from our wicked ways. He will be merciful and restore His people. This is a call to draw near to Him. For this is a song about the Lord’s vineyard found in Isaiah 5.
Who is the Lord’s Vineyard?
The Lord handpicked people and took great care of them. Planting them on a rich and fertile hill. Nurturing them, helping them, and supplying every need. When the time came to harvest for His work, He expected for them to produce sweet and tasty fruit. Instead their fruit was bitter and no good. He expected righteousness but was handed wickedness. When a vineyard refuses to produce what it was planted for, consequences follow.
Isaiah 5:3-4 “So now, listen to Me, you people who live in Jerusalem and in Judah. You must be the judge! Who did what was right? Was it Me or My vineyard? You decide! I did everything I could to help My vineyard. I could have done no more! But when I waited to get sweet grapes from the vines, there were only bitter ones! Why was that?“
What is the Consequence?
Isaiah 5:5-7 “Now I will tell you what I will do to My vineyard. I will break down its walls, so that it becomes an open field. Then wild animals will go in, and they will destroy the vines. I will make the land become useless. Nobody will take care of the vines. Nobody will dig the ground. Weeds will grow there. I will command the clouds, ‘Do not drop any rain on it.’ Israel’s nation is like the vineyard of the Lord Almighty. Judah’s people are His beautiful garden. But when the Lord looked there for justice, He found only murder! When He looked for people who were righteous, He saw that they were cruel.”
In return the Lord is removing His hedge of protection. He is allowing for chaos and destruction, taking away the rain emphasizing His blessings and intimate closeness with the Holy Spirit. There will be no pruning. What He once cut away in mercy, He now allows to overgrow. This looks like negative aspects or behaviors that hinder spiritual growth. This will lead to fruitlessness, stagnation, and no positive changes in one’s life.
There will be a significant decrease in provision. His people will go into exile. This is God’s judgment on Israel. It’s spiritual separation of people from God. They’ll be scattered far away because they do not know the Lord. Leaders will starve and people will thirst. Leading to death where the grave is waiting in anticipation with its mouth wide open ready to swallow up everyone. The consequences reveal what the Lord has already seen within your heart.
Judgement for the Wicked
What the Lord has found in His vineyard is bloodshed, injustice, pride, drunkenness, greed, and spiritual blindness. He’s bringing justice to unjust people. The Lord desired righteousness and justice but instead they were violent, oppressors, greedy, liars, and deceivers. They promote evil as good and good as evil, they always party BUT NEVER THINK OF THE LORD OR NOTICE WHAT HE IS DOING. They’re full of pride practicing self-righteousness. Believing they’re better than everyone. They think they know everything and are always right. Mocking and laughing at the Lord. The people REFUSE TO OBEY the laws of the Lord Almighty. THEY HAVE NOT LISTENED TO THE MESSAGE THAT THE HOLY GOD OF ISRAEL HAS TAUGHT THEM.
The Lord’s Woe Against the Vineyard
(Read for yourself Isaiah 5:8-25)
Woe to greedy wealthy vineyards who acquire property at the expense of others and living in isolation. It’s a social injustice and an act of selfish accumulation. it ignores God and the community.
- The consequence: These large houses and lands will be uninhabited and desolate. There will be a scarcity where intensive labor will produce almost no return. Your land will become barren, and your luxurious lifestyle will turn into famine. Your dishonest gain will be rewarded with ruin.
Woe to vineyards who disregard the work of God. Obsessed with early morning drinking and party all night. The lifestyle of excessive self-indulgence, greed, drunkenness.
- Your consequence is to be exiled. You allowed yourself to be distracted and blind to your awareness of God. You gratify your personal appetites and neglect God.
- People are going into exile and captivity. What they’ve built will collapse. They’ll be destroyed for lack of knowledge [neglecting to know God on a relational basis and pick up His ways]
- Spiritually you will be empty, deprived, unsatisfied, hungry, and thirsty for nourishment again.
- When sin increases and injustice multiplies so does its harvest of destruction because you rejected righteousness.
- Prideful people will be brought low and everyone humbled
- The Lord Almighty will be exalted by His justice – His righteousness will prove Him Holy.
- The wealth and the land of the arrogant will be taken over by others
Hope for the Vineyard
When discipline comes don’t interpret it as rejection but look at it as correction. The Lord is just and fair – but He is also merciful, kind, compassionate, and full of love. This is His way of saving you, His vineyard, from death. Sin leads to death – He cares so much about you He’d rather correct you than see you die. He also sends a warning before the destruction hits – so wake up and turn to Him. This is a warning meant to lead you to repent.
We are a sinful people. Without God, there is no such thing as pure and holy righteousness. We are only able to do right and to be made right through the Lord who stands with us and intervenes on our behalf. But if we continue to reject Him, His word, His guidance, and His perspective/instructions then we become lost. Essentially, choosing to do life on our own terms. That in itself screams chaos and destruction. The Lord is so good, and He always seeks the best for everyone to win and receive true life. Don’t let your sin lead you away from Him. Repent now and return home – to the Only One that can save you. He loves and cares for you deeply.
